My story
Why I do this work
As a first-generation American, I was the first in my family to attend an American university. I remember how much seemed to depend on knowing unwritten rules, and how much one good mentor could change. That experience is the reason I do this work.
I was admitted to UC Berkeley, UCLA and the University of Michigan, and chose Georgetown University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service, a highly sought degree in international relations.
I first came to Brazil as an environmental sustainability researcher on a Fulbright Scholarship from the US Department of State. I’ve since worked in economic development, nonprofit leadership and social enterprise across the United States, India, Brazil, Mexico, Guatemala and Kenya. That global perspective shapes how I work with every family, whether they live down the street or across the world.
I’ve spent seven years in college counseling, independently and with top admissions consultancies, and have guided more than 100 students in nearly every field, from across the US as well as Latin America, Asia and Europe. I also help families without US citizenship navigate financial aid and visa questions. Today, as a boutique counseling firm, we work with a small number of students each year, from early high school through their final college decision. I’m every student’s primary counselor, and we collaborate with highly experienced essay editors and former admissions officers to give each student the strongest possible outcome.
